AAUW Hosts Event for Families of Oklahoma’s Fallen Soldiers

A Journey Around the World for Military and Women—An Arts and Fashion Extravaganza

ConocoPhillips, corporate sponsor for Oklahoma State University’s student chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), provides funding for programs and activities that have helped AAUW become one of the most successful organizations on the OSU campus. The women of this distinguished organization are focused on “breaking through barriers for women and girls” in all aspects of life.   As such, they aspire to be women of philanthropic service and leadership. With this goal in mind, AAUW will have its’ second annual philanthropic event, A Journey Around the World for Military and Women—An Arts and Fashion Extravaganza on March 9, 2013 in the ConocoPhillips Alumni Center Click Hall on the Oklahoma State University campus.

This event will be a formal evening of arts and fashion including dinner and wine; entertainment from around the world; and a runway show with fashion created by world renowned designer Stella Thomas. Stella’s work was recently featured in the Miami Art Basel, she won the 2010 Dallas Designers Display Competition, which then took her to the Couture Competition in New York City and her fashion will be worn by models in the upcoming Ferrari campaign. Throughout her career, she has designed for international royalty and superstars such as Jada Smith, Jimmy Choo and many others. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDARbIyq6lY

With international entertainment and Stella’s sensational fashion designs, this event will ‘WOW’ the audience and successfully generate funds to support two philanthropies: 1) Benefitting military families—who have selflessly sacrificed—by using the funds to provide support to families of fallen soldiers; and 2) providing funds for a program supported by the Women’s Foundation of Oklahoma which helps single moms continue their college education.

Jeretta Horn Nord, advisor of AAUW and a professor of Management Science and Information Systems in OSU’s Spears School of Business who holds the Jeanine Rhea—Oklahoma International Women’s Foundation Professorship states: “Helping our military families is our way to give back to those who have given to all of us by serving our nation.”  Nord indicated that the women’s group also decided to contribute funds to the Women’s Foundation of Oklahoma stating “Children are our future and we believe that positive role models and support provided by parental education is the solution to a better tomorrow.”

AAUW is looking for sponsorships from individuals and organizations to generate funds for the selected philanthropies. The opportunities for supporting these philanthropies and enjoying an ‘unforgettable’ evening are listed below:

Platinum Table Sponsorship–$3,000

Includes a table for ten with preferred seating, a full page ad in the program, and

         recognition during the event.

 Corporate Table Sponsorship–$2,500

Includes a table for ten with preferred seating and recognition during the event.

Table for Military Cadets and Officers–$1000

OSU’s military cadets and officers will open the show in dress uniform.   Sponsors for two tables (20 individuals) are needed so that the event has a military presence and they can enjoy the event.

Table Sponsor for 10–$1,000

Company or individual’s name listed in program

Individual Seat–$100 each

Silent Auction Donation(s)—donation(s) and name/company name listed in program.

The members and advisor of OSU’s American Association of University Women (AAUW) welcome participation and support of A Journey Around the World for Military and Women on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in Click Hall of the ConocoPhillips Alumni Center on the OSU campus.

Two of the primary goals of the event are to benefit the described philanthropies and to provide supporters with an enjoyable evening.

To purchase tickets, sponsor a table or donate items for the silent auction, you may contact Advisor Jeretta Horn Nord at jeretta.nord@okstate.edu or 405-747-0320.

3PointCommitment.org: New Commitment, New Date, New Incentives!

3PointCommitment.org extends the challenge another three months and includes new incentives for non-profit groups.

The 3PointCommitment program encourages people to make the world a better place by not doing three things; complaining, gossiping or lying for ten (10) consecutive days. After successfully completing the commitment, participants signed up at 3PointCommitment.org and registered to win $10,000 that was donated as an incentive.

The winner of the first challenge, George Rennix, said he had to re-start his commitment over fifteen times before he was able to complete his ten day commitment of not complaining, gossiping or lying.

On December 7, 2012, there will be another $10,000 cash drawing – only this time the commitment will be to not complain, gossip or cuss for seven (7) consecutive days.

“We’ve added some new incentives to grow participation and awareness of the program,” said Tom Pace, CEO of PaceButler Corporation.  “In addition to the $10,000 drawing, we will give an extra $5,000 to a school, church or civic group of the winner’s choice,” said Pace.  Each time you reach 7 consecutive days without complaining, gossiping, or cussing, you are eligible for another chance to win the $10,000 cash prize.

“We’ve also added an opportunity for groups to help raise money for their group or organization,” said Pace.  Any group can purchase the wristbands at half price and keep the profit.

Extreme Heat Can Damage Your Roof

Too many times we associate roof damage with high winds or storms

The past month in Oklahoma and across the country, we have seen record breaking temperatures.  When we think of roof repair, we normally associate leaks with storms and rain.  But, we sometimes tend to forget about the damage that is done leading up to those leaks.

With the extreme heat, it is possible that your roof is experiencing cracks and damage that you may not notice until it rains again.  Summer heat can be brutal on your properties out structure.  However, if you conduct regular inspections and maintenance on your commercial roof, the long-term dividends will pay off because you will prolong the lifespan of your commercial roof saving you money in the long run.

At Saratoga Roofing & Construction, we offer a Preventative Maintenance Service that could protect you from unexpected expenditures in the future.

Don’t wait until you have major roof damage before contacting a roofing contractor.  If you invest in your property upfront with a maintenance program – you will prevent costly expenses and possibly interior damage in the future.
